Photography holidays in Spain
I have been taking photographs for a number of years and can best be described as an enthusiastic amateur. I recently decided to try and improve my skills and take some lessons on a photographic holiday. I searched on the web and found a number of sites offering photography holidays in Spain and various other photography courses. I checked them all out and, quite frankly, I was disappointed with the standard of photography on the sites. Only one site, www.photospain.org , had excellent photographs on it and best of all the price was great. I contacted the owner, Kevin Roberts, and arranged for a weeks tuition. Kevin is a former BBC TV cameraman with excellent credentials. I was met at the airport in Portugal and transported to the accommodation in Camposancos. It’s not often that I rave on about anything but the whole experience with www.photospain.org was fantastic. Kevin knows his job. The first thing we did was calibrate my camera equipment. It may sound daft but I had not even checked my camera to see if the light meter was giving correct results. Kevin even calibrated my laptop screen so that the colours gave a true representation of what the photograph actually looks like, I would never have thought of that. The good thing about the holiday was that it was tailored to my needs. I was questioned about my experience and Kevin built on that, after all it would have been a waste of time teaching me what I already knew. Also surprising was the fact that there was no itinerary, we just went with the weather, which was mostly fantastic. If there was a dull day Kevin taught me the best was to utilise what we were presented with. In addition to the photography lessons the food was fantastic. The timber cabins we stayed in are at the back of the Italian restaurant. The whole development is set in the pine woods about 100 yards from the beach. All of the food was included in the price along with wine with the meals, what a bargain. I can’t praise the food highly enough. The chef , Luca, has even won medals for his work. During my weeks stay we visited a number of locations in Spain and Portugal. I can honestly say that there was never a dull moment. Kevin is a great teacher and has a fantastic sense of humor so I did a lot of laughing. If you are after a photography course and want great food and a fantastic time as well I can honestly recommend www.photospain.org .
